A massive fire broke out at Mid City Scrap Metal in Westport, Massachusetts, sending large plumes of smoke into the air near State Road along Route 6.

The Westport Board of Health issued a shelter-in-place advisory for residents along Davis Road, from State Road to Old Bedford Road, due to air quality concerns.

Route 6 has been closed in both directions between Route 88 and Gifford Road, with Westport police directing traffic away from the area.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but no injuries were reported, according to a statement from Mid City Scrap Metal.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is on scene conducting air quality monitoring and working with local authorities to address any impacts from the fire.
