A Mexican governor, Ruben Rocha Moya, has been questioned by federal prosecutors over narcotrafficking charges brought by the US. The governor of Sinaloa, 76, was accused of working with the Sinaloa cartel to distribute narcotics to the US.
Rocha Moya, a close ally of former president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, appeared to reaffirm his loyalty to President Claudia Sheinbaum's ruling Morena party, describing her leadership as 'honest and statesmanlike'.
The US has made extradition requests as part of the case, with the Mexican government saying it would comply if the US provides 'irrefutable' evidence to back up the charges.
