Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been sentenced to four years in jail after being convicted of two counts of rape and domestic abuse.

The 29-year-old, who is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, faced 40 criminal charges, including four counts of rape and allegations involving violence, threats, and abuse.

While he denied the rape allegations, Høiby admitted to several lesser offences, including aggravated assault and transporting marijuana.

The court case against him began in August 2025, after he was indicted on the charges.

The scandal has severely damaged the Royal family's popularity in Norway, with a recent survey showing a decline in support for the monarchy.
