The U.S. Department of Defense is requesting $80 billion to cover costs from the Iran war and other non-war-related bills, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg informed lawmakers of this need in phone calls this week, citing people familiar with the matter.
A full U.S. supplemental request, including funds for the Pentagon and non-defense priorities, may be sent to lawmakers in the coming days.
The Iran war has cost approximately $25 billion, with the full cost remaining an open question on Capitol Hill.
