An Indian-origin pilot was killed in a helicopter crash in Georgia, US, just hours after his wedding. Dave Fiji, 26, a Delta Air Lines pilot, died along with the helicopter pilot when the chopper crashed near the wedding venue in Dawsonville.

The bride, Jessni, a nurse, survived the crash after being trapped in the wreckage for six hours and is recovering at a metro hospital in Atlanta.

According to the deceased's father, George Fiji, his son married on Friday after a decade-long relationship. The couple had around 400 guests attend their wedding at The Revere in Dawsonville.

After the wedding reception, the newlyweds boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter bound for DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. However, the helicopter crashed in a remote wooded area near Mount Vernon Drive, not far from the wedding venue.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has started an investigation into the crash and has not yet determined what caused the helicopter to go down.
