A Russian Tu-22M3 supersonic bomber plane crashed in Siberia during a training flight, but a four-person crew managed to eject safely.

The incident occurred near the Angara river in the Irkutsk region, with a cloud of thick black smoke emerging from the crash site.

The crew was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering non-life-threatening injuries, while fire crews were rushed to the scene to douse the flames.

Preliminary information suggests engine failure may have been behind the crash, with the Tu-22M3 being Russia's premium Soviet-era supersonic bomber used in combat missions in Ukraine and Syria.
