Russia launched a massive barrage of drones and missiles on Kyiv, killing four people and deploying a rare nuclear-capable ballistic missile, the Oreshnik, which it claims cannot be intercepted.

The Oreshnik, an intermediate-range projectile, struck Bila Tserkva, a town in greater Kyiv, and can reach targets up to 5,500 kilometres away, making it a formidable weapon.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that the missile's speed of Mach 10 makes it impossible for modern air defence systems to intercept it, but experts disagree, saying it could be equipped to carry nuclear warheads.

The overnight raid on Kyiv involved 600 drones and 90 missiles, with 549 drones and 55 missiles intercepted, leaving behind a trail of destruction and debris.
