A severe thunderstorm is moving through the Austin area, bringing heavy rain, frequent lightning, small hail, and strong wind gusts.

According to the latest alert from NWS Austin/San Antonio, isolated storms continue around the Austin area, producing frequent lightning, small hail, and gusty winds.

Meteorologist Avery Tomasco said there is no tornado threat in Central Texas, but brief funnel clouds are possible along the leading edge of the storms.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, park vehicles in garages, and monitor weather alerts closely, especially those with Mother's Day plans.

Another round of severe thunderstorms is expected on Sunday, with a cold front moving south across the state, bringing a threat of very large hail and damaging straight-line winds.
