Texas Mass Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 10 Injured, Suspect Confirmed Deceased

A mass shooting in Midland, Texas, on Friday morning left at least one person dead and 10 others injured, according to Texas Tribune.

The suspect was later confirmed dead following a standoff with law enforcement.

The incident took place in the city's southwest area, starting near the 4600 block of West Wall Street in an industrial zone and progressing southward.

According to NBC News, officers responded to reports of shots fired from a building shortly after 8 a.m. local time.

This led to a barricaded suspect situation.

Multiple agencies, including Midland Police Department, SWAT teams, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Rangers, responded with armored units and road closures.

As a precautionary measure, residents were urged to shelter in place, and schools and businesses locked down.

Eleven known victims were reported in total.

One victim was killed at the scene.

Nine others were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where four underwent surgery and five were listed in stable condition.

An additional victim was taken to Odessa Medical Center Hospital.

No names or further details about the victims have been released by authorities.
