US President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 'will do whatever I want him to' on Iran, amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Trump made the comments as Israeli lawmakers advanced a bill that could dissolve parliament and lead to early elections, with Netanyahu's ruling coalition facing criticism.
When asked about a possible military strike on Iran, Trump replied, 'He'll do whatever I want him to do. He's a very good man. He'll do whatever I want him to do.'
Trump also defended Netanyahu against criticism, saying he's 'not treated right in Israel', and joked about running for Israeli prime minister, claiming he's at 99% in the polls.
The US President's comments come as Israel's parliament backed a bill to dissolve itself, potentially bringing the country's next election forward by several weeks.
Surveys suggest Netanyahu may face defeat if voting takes place, according to reports.
US-Iran negotiations have made limited progress, with Trump saying he's in the 'final stages' of dealing with Iran, but refusing to give a timeline for a deal.
Iran's navy and air force have reportedly been wiped out, according to Trump, but efforts are ongoing to finalise a peace agreement between Washington and Tehran.
