US President Donald Trump said he would soon decide on a proposed deal to extend the ceasefire with Iran, but significant issues remain unresolved.

Trump would meet in a secure White House room to make a 'final determination' on the proposal, which would extend the early-April truce for another 60 days.

A White House official said the meeting lasted about two hours, but did not confirm whether Trump had made a decision.

Iran says an agreement is close, but Trump added caveats, including ending its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz and dismantling its nuclear capacity.

Iran's semi-official Fars news agency called Trump's comments an 'attempt to portray a fabricated victory.'

The potential deal reportedly includes releasing $12 billion in Iran's frozen assets and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but details remain unclear.
