A California man, known for his pro-Donald Trump decorations, was attacked outside his Escondido home, leaving him in severe condition.

The suspect, Thomas Caleb Butler, was identified by police and is accused of first-degree murder attempt.

Butler, a registered Republican and supporter of President Trump, had previously 'liked' the house and its decorations, according to local reports.

The victim's wife believes the attack was motivated by the couple's outspoken political support for President Trump and the extensive decorations displayed outside their residence.

Butler, who served in the Navy, was reportedly on medication and struggling with mental health issues at the time of the attack.
