US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that military strikes could begin again if the country 'misbehaves', while reviewing a new proposal from Tehran aimed at ending the war.

The warning came after Iran sent a 14-point proposal to mediator Pakistan, which included ending the conflict across all fronts and establishing a new system for the key Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said he was reviewing the proposal, but expressed doubts about its acceptability, stating that Iran had not suffered a sufficient price for its actions.

The conflict, which began in late February, has remained suspended since April 8, but Trump hinted that military action could resume if Iran 'misbehaves'.

Axios reported that the proposal gave a one-month window for talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the US naval blockade, and permanently end the war in Iran and Lebanon.

Iran has also warned that a renewed conflict with the US is likely, citing evidence that the US is not committed to any promises or agreements.
