US President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of resuming military strikes against Iran if they 'misbehave' even as he reviews a fresh proposal from Tehran to end the war.
Trump, who was on his way to Miami, expressed skepticism about reaching a deal with Iran, stating that Tehran had not yet paid a big enough price for its actions over the past 47 years.
The US President was reviewing a new proposal sent by Iran on the plane, which sets a one-month deadline for negotiations on a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end the US naval blockade, and permanently end the war in Iran and Lebanon.
According to Axios, quoting two sources, the proposal also includes a two-month negotiation period to try and reach a deal on Iran's nuclear programme.
Trump had rejected a previous Iranian proposal this week, but conversations have continued, and the three-week ceasefire appears to be holding.
The US President is also facing pressure from high gas prices, which have shot up to USD 4.39 per gallon, an increase of 47 per cent since the war with Iran began on February 28.
