US President Donald Trump has urged Pakistan and several West Asian countries to join the Abraham Accords and formally recognize Israel as part of a broader diplomatic effort to end the US-Iran conflict.
Trump argued that wider participation in the Abraham Accords could bring 'true Power, Strength, and Peace to the Middle East for the first time in 5,000 years.'
However, the proposal is likely to face resistance in countries such as Pakistan, which has long opposed normalization with Israel.
Trump's remarks came after weekend talks with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.
The Abraham Accords, signed in 2020, normalized relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, establishing diplomatic ties, trade links, investment flows, and security cooperation.
