US President Donald Trump appeared confident of a peace deal with Iran at the 2026 G7 Summit, but his administration remains skeptical of Iranian intentions.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe and other senior officials have raised concerns about Iran's willingness to stick to nuclear concessions sought by the US, according to Axios.

However, Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner are confident and advocated for the deal.

Senators John Thune, John Kennedy, and Lindsey Graham have expressed skepticism about the deal, citing concerns over compliance and enforcement.

Democrats have questioned Trump's critique of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and highlighted the confusion around the deal regarding the release of frozen assets, sanctions relief, and the Lebanon conflict.

The deal, which will end all hostilities in the region, open the Strait of Hormuz, and end the US' naval blockade on Iranian ports, is set to be signed in Switzerland.
