US President Donald Trump has slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's 'vicious' bombardment of Lebanon, stating that without the US, there would be no Israel.
During a meeting with Qatar's Emir at the G7 summit in France, Trump expressed his frustration with Netanyahu's actions, saying he 'didn't like' the timing and scale of the strike.
Trump also questioned Netanyahu's strategy, suggesting that Israel's long-running fight against Hezbollah has gone on too long and killed too many civilians.
He proposed a different strategy, suggesting that Syria take the lead in handling Hezbollah, and praised Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa for his efforts.
The comments came as the US and Iran are expected to formally sign a peace deal, with Trump expressing confidence that the pact will survive despite Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
