Russian forces continued assault operations along the front line in eastern Ukraine on Sunday, despite a planned three-day ceasefire, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

At least nine people were injured in the region, with data from Ukraine's air force showing a decrease in long-range Russian drone attacks compared to the period before the ceasefire.

Zelensky accused Russia of not complying with the truce, while Russia's defence ministry claimed Ukraine had committed over 16,000 ceasefire violations, including thousands of drone attacks.

The war in Ukraine, which began after Russia's 2022 invasion, has killed hundreds of thousands of people and become Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II.
