US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have signed a historic peace agreement, shifting attention to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a 60-day period of negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme.
The memorandum of understanding was signed digitally in English and Farsi at the Palace of Versailles near Paris, following the G7 summit.
The deal includes provisions for the removal of US naval blockade, the safe passage of commercial vessels, and the development of a $300 billion plan for Iran's reconstruction and economic development.
The US has also agreed to terminate all types of sanctions against Iran, including UN Security Council resolutions, in an agreed-upon schedule as part of the final deal.
The two parties have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpiled enriched material and discuss the issue of enrichment, with the aim of achieving a mutually agreed framework in the final deal.
The deal also includes provisions for the establishment of an executive mechanism to monitor the successful implementation of the agreement and the future compliance of the final deal.
