US President Donald Trump expressed skepticism over Iran's new peace proposal, stating that Tehran has not yet paid a big enough price for its actions over the past 47 years.

The proposal, which includes ending the conflict across all fronts and creating a new framework for the Strait of Hormuz, was sent to mediator Pakistan, according to reports.

Trump, however, questioned the chances of success, saying he would soon review the plan but couldn't imagine it being acceptable.

The US President has repeatedly stated that Iran can never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon, and he is facing pressure at home to end Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, which has blocked 20% of global oil and gas supplies.

Iranian officials, including a senior military official, have also expressed concerns about a renewed conflict with the US, citing the US's lack of commitment to promises and agreements.
