Washington, US Vice President JD Vance will lead the US delegation to sign a peace deal with Iran in Switzerland on Friday, President Donald Trump announced.

Trump and Vance have already electronically signed the framework agreement with Iran's lead negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, a senior US official said.

The signing ceremony will be attended by Vance, with Trump's presence uncertain, the president said in a media interaction in France.

The Memorandum of Understanding will be released soon after the signing, Trump added.

Pakistan and Qatar mediated the deal, and Pakistan will host the signing ceremony on June 19, its Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

The Hormuz Strait will be fully open by Friday, with heavy tankers getting priority movement to ensure smooth oil and gas supplies, a senior US official said.

The memorandum ensures the Strait of Hormuz will be toll-free for 60 days, with the expectation of becoming part of the final agreement.
