The White House is set to host a unique event on June 14, as it transforms into a UFC cagefight arena on the South Lawn. The event is part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of the founding of the US and will feature leading UFC fighters.
The 5000-seat makeshift arena will be built on the South Lawn, which is usually used for state visits and presidential helicopter departures.
President Donald Trump has welcomed UFC fighters to the White House, including Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria, who will face off in the headliner fight. The winners of the bouts will be awarded USA-themed UFC Belts to mark the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
The event is a premier affair on the Washington DC calendar and is expected to be a major attraction, with the general public able to watch the bouts for free on giant screens to be erected on The Ellipse.
