The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft that was grounded after a pilot reported a malfunctioning fuel control switch (FCS) on one of its engines. The issue was first flagged by the commander of the aircraft, who observed abnormal behavior of the left engine FCS during a London-Bengaluru flight on Monday. The affected component will be removed and sent to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for detailed analysis. According to officials, the aircraft will be released after installation of an alternate FCS. The incident has prompted Air India to order a precautionary, fleet-wide reinspection of the FCS latch on all its Boeing 787 aircraft. While there has been no fresh update from Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer had stated that it was in contact with Air India and was supporting the airline's review of the issue. The airline has assured that no irregularities have been detected so far, and the re-inspection is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of its passengers.
