Amaravati Marks Historic First as Andhra Pradesh Celebrates 77th Republic Day

Andhra Pradesh marked a significant milestone on Monday as it celebrated the 77th Republic Day in its capital city, Amaravati. The occasion was historic as it was the first time the national flag was unfurled in the city. State governor S Abdul Nazeer, who hoisted the flag at a specially arranged venue in Nelapadu, described the moment as a source of pride for the state. The government's efforts to revive the capital city have shown promise, with construction resuming after a five-year hiatus. As a result, economic confidence is improving, and institutions are regaining strength. The governor highlighted the state's progress in various sectors, including welfare measures and technology-driven governance. Under the 'Swarna Andhra–2047' roadmap, the coalition government aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a globally competitive state by 2047, the centenary of India's Independence. To achieve this vision, the government is implementing welfare schemes such as NTR Bharosa pensions, which support over 6.3 million beneficiaries every month. Additionally, initiatives like Deepam 2.0 and Stree Shakti programme are being rolled out to benefit the poor and vulnerable populations. The state is also leveraging technology to improve governance, with 119 government services now available through WhatsApp, enabling citizens to access essential services instantly. The governor's address was marked by a ceremonial salute from 11 parade contingents and 22 tableaux showcasing the state's progress.
