Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Assam chief minister for a second consecutive term on Tuesday in Guwahati.
The 57-year-old was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at a ceremony held at the Khanapara Veterinary Ground.
Four new ministers, including two from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath alongside Sarma.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, and other cabinet ministers.
The BJP won 82 seats in the recent assembly election, securing a landslide victory in the state.
Sarma was selected as the leader of the newly elected MLAs and subsequently staked claim to form the government, which was accepted by the Governor.
