Assam's New Chief Minister Outlines Priorities Ahead of Oath-Taking

Assam's next chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has emphasized that the state's land, identity, and future are non-negotiable priorities for his second term in office.

He announced plans to reclaim 5 lakh acres of land for the people of Assam and provide financial support to small and marginal farmers, including ₹11,000 and ₹3 lakh assistance to buy tractors.

The new government will also offer ₹5 lakh as entrepreneurship support to 1 million youths and increase daily wages of tea-garden workers to ₹500.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other prominent leaders are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday.
