A court in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia has sentenced a Bangladeshi national, Abdul Amin, to three years of imprisonment for travelling on a forged Indian passport and illegally registering land.
Special Judge, Ballia, Ramkripal also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on him, according to Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh.
Amin, who hails from a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar of Bangladesh, was accused of obtaining Indian documents and registering land in West Bengal's Hooghly district using fraudulent means.
He also allegedly obtained a passport and travelled to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia twice.
