According to Reddy, Karnataka operates 26,054 buses, serving nearly 45 lakh passengers daily in Bengaluru alone. He claimed that the state has added over 5,800 new buses in the last two years and plans to introduce 2,000 more by March 2026. Reddy also took aim at the previous BJP government, alleging that bus purchases were halted during its tenure. The minister warned that private operators prioritize profits and may withdraw services when earnings fall, emphasizing that public transport is a right, not a luxury.
