Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026: Celebrating Theatre's Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Reach

The National School of Drama (NSD) is set to host the 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav, a premier theatre festival in India, from January 27 to February 20, 2026. The event promises to be a milestone in the world of theatre, featuring 289 productions, including 277 Indian and 12 international shows, across 40 centres nationwide. This year's festival boasts several firsts, including 33 productions directed by women, participation from 15 countries, and performances in 228 languages and dialects. The event will also showcase 19 university and 14 local productions, making it a truly inclusive and diverse celebration of theatre. NSD's Director, Chittaranjan Tripathy, said, "This year, we will feature at least one production from each continent, making it the largest international theatre festival in the world. The festival brings together a vast confluence of languages, regions, aesthetics, and ideologies through varied forms and genres of theatre.
