Mumbai police have arrested a former domestic worker, Surendra Kumar Deenanath Sharma, for allegedly breaking into BJP MP Manoj Tiwari's western suburbs flat and stealing ₹5.4 lakh. According to officials, Sharma had been fired from his job two years ago after he was caught using duplicate keys to enter the flat. However, he allegedly returned last week, using the same keys to gain entry. CCTV cameras installed in the premises in December captured footage of Sharma entering the flat and stealing cash from a cupboard. Sharma's alleged thefts were discovered after Tiwari's manager, Pramod Jogendra Pandey, received an intruder alert on his phone. A security guard detained Sharma, who was found to have stolen ₹1 lakh. Further investigation is underway, with Sharma admitting to the crimes after being confronted with the CCTV footage.
