A high-stakes election campaign is intensifying in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, with the ruling DMK-led alliance and the opposition NDA exchanging barbs. DMK leader Saravanan Annadurai has hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the BJP of being controlled by the RSS, which he claims is a more oppressive force than dynasty rule. During an interview with ANI, Annadurai said: 'The people of Tamil Nadu have chosen our leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who has been campaigning since 2019 and has never lost an election. In contrast, the BJP is 'ruled by the RSS and totally clutched by its dictate,' which he believes is worse than a dynasty. The controversy began when PM Modi accused the DMK government of lacking 'democratic values and accountability.' He claimed that the party serves the interests of a single family rather than the people, and that opportunities within the DMK are limited to those connected by dynasty or those willing to engage in corruption. The DMK has been in power in Tamil Nadu since 2021, and the opposition NDA is seeking to defeat them in the upcoming polls. The election is expected to be fiercely contested, with several parties, including actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), vying for power. As the election approaches, tensions are rising, and leaders on both sides are trading charges. The outcome of the polls will have significant implications for the state and its people.
