A 36-year-old businessman, Shivam Gupta, has lost his life in a tragic incident that unfolded near Delhi's Connaught Place. The incident occurred on January 2, when Gupta, a resident of east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, asked a food delivery agent for water outside a restaurant. The request sparked a heated argument, which took a turn for the worse when the delivery agent allegedly hit Gupta with a helmet. Two associates of the agent, also food delivery personnel, joined in and punched and kicked Gupta. The victim was left unconscious and bleeding on the road, prompting a PCR call at 1:30 am on January 3. Gupta was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, where doctors found multiple blood clots and declared him unfit to give a statement. Despite undergoing surgery at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on January 5, Gupta's condition continued to deteriorate, and he eventually succumbed to his injuries on January 19. Two men have been taken into custody, with further investigation underway to determine the roles of those involved. The police have collected evidence, including CCTV footage and blood-stained material, which is being sent for forensic examination. Gupta's father expressed his shock and grief, stating that the family had tried to contact their son after he failed to return from a party, only to be informed by the police that he was in hospital. The family had requested a transfer to a better-equipped hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, it was too late to save him.
