Delhi is set to become a major hub for spiritual tourism, as the city government has announced plans to promote 'bhajan clubbing' – a unique cultural phenomenon that fuses traditional devotional music with modern presentation styles. Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra revealed the initiative at the Tourism Summit 2026 in Chennai, stating that the government aims to appeal to a younger and more urban audience by integrating bhajan clubbing into broader tourism initiatives. Bhajan clubbing typically features live or recorded devotional songs and chants performed in informal settings with cutting-edge sound systems and coordinated lighting. This format has gained significant attention in recent times, thanks in part to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recognition of its popularity among younger audiences. As part of its larger strategy to position Delhi as a premier destination for spiritual tourism, the government plans to develop structured pilgrimage routes connecting major religious sites across the city. These routes will enable visitors to undertake a seamless darshan experience through carefully planned pathways. To support the growth of the tourism industry, the government will focus on enhancing infrastructure, visitor amenities, and experience-based tourism around key landmarks. Additionally, the government will establish educational institutions, training centers, and skill development programs linked to tourism to improve workforce readiness and create employment opportunities in tour operations, hospitality, travel services, and aviation.
