Delhi residents are advised to exercise caution as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several areas of the city, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and hail. The alerts are valid until 1:30 pm today. The rain is expected to bring relief from the city's poor air quality, which has plummeted to 'very poor' levels, with an AQI reading of 310 recorded by the CPCB's Sameer app. This comes just days after a brief improvement following a spell of rain earlier in the week. Affected areas under red alert include North Delhi, North West Delhi, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, West Delhi, and South West Delhi. Residents in these areas are urged to stay indoors and avoid travel unless necessary. Meanwhile, South East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, Shahdara, and East Delhi are under an orange alert for moderate rain and thunderstorms. Light to moderate rain was also observed in parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers expected in areas including Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad. Leading airlines have issued travel advisories, warning passengers of potential disruptions due to the weather conditions. Passengers are advised to check flight schedules and take necessary precautions before traveling to Delhi airport.
