Delhi's air quality has remained persistently 'very poor' this week, with the city experiencing temperatures a degree below normal. On Thursday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.3°C, a significant drop from the 7.7°C recorded the previous day. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a western disturbance is expected to bring light rain to the region on Friday, potentially improving air quality. Wind speeds are forecasted to increase, which should help alleviate the city's air pollution issues. "A yellow alert has been issued for Friday, with the IMD predicting thunderstorms, gusty winds of up to 40 km per hour, and light rain. The cloudy skies and rain are expected to keep temperatures in check, with the minimum temperature ranging from 11-13°C on Friday. "The air quality, currently at a hazardous 313, is expected to improve to the 'poor' zone from Friday. Delhi has been experiencing some of the worst air quality in nearly three years, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 400 or higher for three consecutive days in January. The peak AQI during the current spell was recorded at 440 on January 18, a significant improvement from the 460 recorded in 2021.
