Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police's Cop App has achieved a remarkable milestone, with over 50 lakh downloads since its launch in 2019. This digital platform has enabled citizens to access various police services, including online FIR registration, lost article reporting, and character verification, from the comfort of their homes. According to Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, the app has significantly reduced the need for people to visit police stations, resulting in a notable decrease in service resolution time. The app, which serves as a 'digital police station,' has facilitated the download of over 2.1 crore FIR copies and reported lost articles from more than 7.3 lakh people. Officials credit the app's success to its user-friendly interface and real-time updates on application status. 'Technology has enabled us to make policing more people-centric, transparent, and accountable,' Krishna said, highlighting the app's potential to set a new standard for public service. The DGP added that the app has streamlined service processes, ensuring equal speed, transparency, and fixed timelines for every application. Notable reductions in service times have been observed, with character verification now taking six days, down from eight; tenant verification taking eight days, down from 24-25 days; and employee verification taking five days, reduced from 13 days. These achievements demonstrate the effectiveness of the app in empowering citizens and improving police services in Uttar Pradesh.
