In a shocking twist to a live-in relationship in Goa's Arambol, a 37-year-old Russian man, Aleksei Leonov, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his partner, Elena Kasthanova, whose body was found with her throat slit and arms tied behind her back. The landlord made the gruesome discovery on Thursday. According to police, Leonov assaulted Kasthanova, causing multiple injuries and slitting her neck with a sharp weapon. The accused was taken into custody at 4am on Friday. In a chilling revelation, Leonov led investigators to the body of another woman, Elena Vaneeva, 37, in nearby Morjim, confessing to her murder as well. The motive behind the killings remains unclear. Police are collecting evidence, including the alleged murder weapon, and conducting a post-mortem examination on both bodies. Leonov has been booked under sections 103 (murder) and 126(2) (wrongful restraint) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events surrounding the tragic incidents.
