A devastating helium cylinder explosion during the Thenpennai River Festival in Manalurpettai, Kallakurichi district, has claimed one life and left 18 others injured. According to District Collector K Tharpagaraj, the incident occurred on Monday. Tamil Nadu's AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has expressed his condolences to the family of the victim, urging the state government to provide immediate compensation to those affected. In a statement, Palaniswami prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family. The explosion occurred when a helium gas cylinder used to fill balloons burst during the festival. Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the blast, but an investigation is underway to identify the responsible parties. The state government has been urged to take swift action to prevent such incidents in the future.
