A routine training flight turned into an emergency situation on Wednesday when an Indian Air Force (IAF) microlight aircraft experienced a technical issue and was forced to make an emergency landing in a pond near Prayagraj's Air Force Station Bamrauli. According to eyewitnesses, the small propeller plane lost control before diving into the water, causing a thick black smoke to rise from the area. However, thanks to the swift response of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) divers and fire tenders, both pilots on board were rescued safely. In a statement, the IAF confirmed that the aircraft experienced a technical malfunction and was safely force-landed in an uninhabited area. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the incident. This incident comes just months after a similar incident in November, when an IAF Pilatus PC-7 trainer aircraft crashed near Chennai, but the pilot ejected safely. The IAF had said that a probe had been ordered into the incident, and no damage to life or property was reported. The IAF has assured that the safety of its personnel and equipment is of utmost importance, and measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
