A 36-year-old Kerala techie, GS Sharanya, survived four days alone in the dense forests of Tadiandamol hills in Karnataka's Kodagu district after getting lost during a trek. Despite having only 500 ml of water and a dying phone, she managed to stay strong and hopeful. Sharanya was eventually found by a group of locals and rescuers who were involved in a massive search operation.

Sharanya had been trekking with a group on April 2 when she got left behind. She tried to contact her friend and the homestay where she was staying, but her phone battery ran out. Despite being alone in a forest believed to be frequented by elephants and amid intermittent heavy rain, Sharanya said fear never overtook her.

She spent four days in the forest, walking and trying to get spotted by rescuers. On the second day, she climbed higher up the hill, thinking the area would offer better visibility. On the third day, she wanted to walk more, but incessant rain stopped her. She eventually decided to take shelter near a rock beside a stream, where she was easier to spot and had access to water.
