In a 134-page order, the Lokpal of India has dismissed a complaint filed by activist Amitabh Thakur against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, citing a lack of evidence of disproportionate assets. The complaint, which relied on Dubey's election affidavits from 2009 to 2024, claimed unexplained surges in his wife's assets. However, the Lokpal found no substantial evidence of wrongdoing by Dubey, noting only marginal changes in his own holdings. The Lokpal criticized Thakur for filing unverified claims and breaching confidentiality by publicizing the complaint on social media. A show-cause notice issued to Thakur was discharged, but Dubey was granted liberty to pursue legal action against Thakur for privacy breaches and reputational harm. The Lokpal emphasized the need to protect public servants' integrity during proceedings and disapproved of Thakur's approach. In response, Dubey said he is 'fortunate to serve under PM Modi' and will consider filing a harassment case against those responsible for the 'false allegations.' This development comes after Congress leader Supriya Shrinate launched an attack against Dubey, alleging a disproportionate increase in his wife's assets. However, the Lokpal's decision has quashed these allegations, stating they were 'frivolous and vexatious' and primarily targeted Dubey's wife rather than the MP himself.
