In a chilling turn of events, a 24-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district surrendered to the Maharajpur police station in Kanpur on Saturday, confessing to the murder of his 22-year-old wife just four months after their wedding. According to officials, Sachin Singh Bhadauria strangled his wife, Shweta Singh, over suspicion of an extramarital affair. The couple had eloped and gotten married after initially fleeing to Surat, where Bhadauria worked as an autorickshaw driver. Bhadauria's motive was allegedly to test his wife's loyalty, and he claimed to have found her with two young men from their neighborhood on Friday night. He called the police, but after a preliminary questioning, all parties were let off with a warning. However, the situation escalated, and the couple exchanged heated arguments, leading Bhadauria to lose his temper and strangle his wife to death. He then allegedly wrapped her body in a blanket and left it in their rented room. Bhadauria reportedly roamed the city for over four hours before surrendering to the police. Police officials accompanied him to the spot where they found Shweta's body. Bhadauria is currently under arrest and is being interrogated. The deputy commissioner of police (east), Satyajeet Gupta, stated that the woman's family has been informed, and further action will be taken based on their complaint and the findings of the investigation. A case of murder has been registered, and legal proceedings are underway.
