The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has traced back the trail to reach the origin of the NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak, which was circulated on WhatsApp.
A final-year student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Shubham Khairnar, allegedly obtained a physical copy of 120 questions and started circulating its soft copies through WhatsApp.
The paper was circulated to several cities in Rajasthan, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar, among others, before the police were able to trace Khairnar in Maharashtra's Nashik.
The SOG has so far questioned over 20 people and has been probing coaching centres in Jaipur, Sikar, and Kota.
The CBI has taken over the investigation and is set to take Khairnar's custody.
