Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has condemned the death of Yuvraj Mehta, a 27-year-old techie who died in a freak accident in Noida's Sector 150. Mehta's car skidded into a waterlogged pit dug for a commercial complex while driving through dense fog. Gandhi pointed out that the tragedy highlights the 'urban collapse' in India, not due to lack of funds or technology, but a lack of accountability. He emphasized that roads, water, pollution, and indifference can be deadly, citing the incident as an example. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident, which will submit its report within five days. The postmortem examination revealed that Mehta died due to asphyxia and cardiac arrest, with his nose blocked by mud and water. His last rites were performed in Haridwar. The incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning the lack of timely action to save Mehta's life.
