A forensic analysis of the clothes of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant who died in a Patna hostel has revealed conclusive evidence of a sexual assault. The findings, confirmed by Patna SSP Karthikey K Sharma, show the presence of semen on the victim's clothes. Following this revelation, two police officials involved in the initial investigation have been suspended due to alleged dereliction of duty and failure to collect evidence properly. The victim was found unconscious in a hostel on January 6 and died on January 11 after being hospitalized for several days. Initially, the police had ruled out foul play, but the family had suspected a cover-up. The post-mortem report noted injuries to the victim's genitals and nail abrasions, leading to suspicions of a sexual assault. The police have arrested the owner of the hostel and are now working to obtain a DNA profile from the semen to match with the DNA of the accused and suspects. The incident has sparked widespread protests in Patna, with the victim's family accusing the authorities of attempting to cover up the incident.
