Russian Tourist Arrested for Double Murder in Goa, Confesses to Killing Live-in Partner

A 37-year-old Russian tourist, Aleksei Leonov, has been arrested in Goa for the murders of two women, including his reported live-in partner, Elena Kasthanova. The bodies of the victims, both 37 years old, were discovered in separate locations in north Goa. Elena Kasthanova's body was found on Thursday with her throat slit and arms tied behind her back. After his arrest, Leonov led the police to the body of Elena Vaneeva in nearby Morjim. Although the motive behind the murders is unclear, police are gathering evidence and conducting a thorough investigation. The accused has been booked under sections 103 (murder) and 126 (2) (wrongful restraint) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The two bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and the investigation is ongoing.
