Hyderabad: In a groundbreaking move, the Telangana Police is set to introduce a pioneering 'Reach Us' initiative, allowing victims to register crimes without stepping foot in a police station. The citizen-centric system, launching on January 27, will revolutionize the way crimes are reported, particularly in sensitive cases involving women, children, and marginalized communities. The initiative, spearheaded by CID Additional DGP Charu Sinha, aims to reduce the trauma and inconvenience faced by victims, ensuring timely registration of FIRs and reinforcing public trust in the criminal justice system. Under the new system, police officers will visit victims at their homes or preferred locations to record their statements and register FIRs, making the process more accessible and compassionate. This 'first-of-its-kind' initiative in the country will be applicable to specified categories of offences, including those under the POCSO Act, SC/ST Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, and Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act. By adopting a victim-centric approach, the Telangana Police is taking a significant step towards enhancing the overall policing experience, making it more responsive and empathetic to the needs of its citizens. The 'Reach Us' initiative will not only improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system but also promote a culture of trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the community. With the launch of this innovative system, Telangana is setting a new benchmark for policing in the country, one that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of victims above all else.
