In a bid to make Aadhaar-related information more user-friendly, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has unveiled 'Udai,' a new mascot designed to serve as a resident-facing communication companion. The launch of the mascot marks a significant step towards making Aadhaar services more inclusive and relatable for India's residents. According to UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, the purpose of the mascot is to help the Aadhaar brand reach out to people and create recognition. 'Udai' will appear across various Aadhaar platforms, including the upcoming new Aadhaar app, which is set to be launched on January 28, also celebrated as UIDAI Day. The mascot was selected through a national design and naming competition hosted on the MyGov platform, which received 875 entries from students, designers, and professionals across the country. The winners, Arun Gokul from Kerala, Idris Dawaiwala from Pune, and Krishna Sharma from Ghazipur, were felicitated at an event in Thiruvananthapuram, where the mascot was unveiled. UIDAI's chairman, Neelkanth Mishra, said the launch of 'Udai' reflects the authority's efforts to make Aadhaar communication more accessible and inclusive. Kumar added that the open competition demonstrated the strong connection people have with Aadhaar as a public good. As 'Udai' begins its journey, it will act as a companion and narrator, helping residents connect with Aadhaar-related information more easily. With the launch of the new mascot, UIDAI aims to make Aadhaar services more people-friendly and accessible to all.
