In a significant move, Nitin Nabin, 45, has taken charge as the 12th national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a generational shift in the party. The youngest president to date, Nabin has been a five-term legislator from Bihar and has served as a minister in the state government. In his first address, Nabin emphasized the importance of active engagement in politics, urging young people to participate in the democratic process. He also acknowledged the challenges posed by demographic changes in poll-bound states, including Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, and Puducherry. Nabin's party, the BJP, has been critical of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, citing the controversy over the Deepam row. The BJP has accused the DMK of conspiring to interfere with cultural and religious traditions, and Nabin has vowed to make the issue a key part of the party's campaign in the state. The BJP will be contesting elections in five states, and Nabin has set the tone for the poll narrative. He has emphasized the party's commitment to internal democracy and its ability to deliver on its promises, citing the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir as examples. Nabin's elevation has been welcomed by his predecessor, JP Nadda, who has congratulated him on his new role. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also greeted Nabin's family, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the BJP's history. As the party looks to the future, Nabin has emphasized the importance of working towards a developed India, a goal that is enshrined in the party's vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047. With the support of party workers and the Prime Minister, Nabin is poised to lead the BJP into the next phase of its journey.
