Ajax Amsterdam's quest for their first Champions League points this season has hit a major roadblock due to injuries to several key players. The four-time European champions, who sit at the bottom of the 36-team standings with five consecutive losses, were hoping to pick up their first points away at Qarabag on Wednesday. However, acting coach Fred Grim revealed that international striker Wout Weghorst will be out for at least a month with an ankle injury suffered over the weekend, while regulars Josip Sutalo and Kenneth Taylor have been left behind in Amsterdam. Grim acknowledged that Weghorst's return to action might be premature, as he played more minutes than the club had initially planned following his abdominal wall injury. Despite the setbacks, Grim expressed his team's determination to win against Qarabag and get back on track. Ajax may consider resting other players in the midweek match to keep them fresh for their crucial Dutch league clash against arch-rivals Feyenoord on Sunday. The match against Qarabag is a must-win for Ajax, who have won their last two Dutch league outings after a dismal run of four successive defeats, including home losses to Galatasaray and Benfica in the Champions League.
